Calcite was even used as a pigment for white paint throughout history. Also used as a dietary calcium supplement for animals, a gentle abrasive cleaner, and an additive in the soil. Optical calcite is pure calcite that was used at guns and bombsights in World War ll. Many of the artifacts of ancient Egypt were created from calcite.
