Labradorite is a mesmerizing gemstone that exhibits a stunning interplay of colors, including shades of blue, green, gold, and purple. This iridescent effect, known as labradorescence, is caused by the stone's unique structure, which refracts light in different directions. Labradorite is believed to possess mystical properties and is often used in spiritual and healing practices. Its beauty and allure make it a popular choice for jewelry and decorative items, adding a touch of enchantment and sophistication to any setting.
WHY IT'S AWESOME? Labradorite is inextricably linked to the magic of the night skies because of it origins in the northern hemisphere. Legend tells us that one of the greatest natural shows on earth, "The Aurora Borealis", was trapped inside the rocks of Labrador. There they lay, awaiting discovery amongst the Beothuk and the Inuit people.

WHAT IS LABRADORITE? Labradorite is a feldspar mineral known for its breathtaking labradorescence, a play of colored reflections caused by the internal structures within the stone. Its colors range from blue and green to purple, yellow, and orange, shimmering in the sun to create a stunning rainbow effect. Only certain parts of the specimen exhibit this quality, as the labradorescence is caused by light reflecting off twinning surfaces within the stone, not from the surface itself. Skilled gemstone workers must carefully cut the rough stone to preserve its flash, which occurs only in two directions.
